Stone Pad services

A gravel stone pad is the most affordable, longest-lasting foundation for a shed, garage, or gazebo in Stafford, NY. On the heavy, glacial soils of Genesee County, a level, well-drained stone pad keeps your building square and dry and protects it from the freeze-thaw cycles that shift, rot, and heave structures set straight on the ground.

Stafford sits right in the heart of our Western New York service area. From here our crews cover the whole Lake Erie–Genesee corridor — Rochester, Buffalo, and Batavia, out through the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier, and down into Northwest Pennsylvania. Most pads go in within a single day, and your site is ready for delivery the moment we pull off.

Why a Gravel Stone Pad Makes Sense in Stafford, NY

Western New York winters are hard on foundations. With a frost line around 42–48 inches, the ground under a shed freezes, thaws, and moves all season. A shed set on bare dirt or a few blocks rides that movement — doors bind, floors sag, and moisture wicks up into the wood.

A properly built stone pad fixes both problems: 4–6 inches of compacted 3/4″ clean drainage stone lets snowmelt and rain drain straight through instead of freezing under your building, and a level, compacted base spreads the load so the structure stays true through every freeze-thaw cycle.

Stafford is farm country, so we build a lot of pads for run-in sheds, horse barns, tractor and equipment storage, and backyard sheds — anywhere you need a dry, stable base that holds up to real winters.

They gave me an appointment of 7 AM and I was so impressed that they arrived on time to the minute! I met Samuel and Roman, who were too young men who impressed me tremendously. It was good to see two young men demonstrate such great work ethics and responsibility! That is rarely seen by young people today. I could not speak more highly of this company and the two young men that came out to perform the work for me today. Both young men took care that my property was not damaged by their heavy equipment or the work they performed. They cleaned up after themselves prior to leaving and went over the final results with me. I would highly recommend this company for any excavating work to be done. Stone Pad FAQs

Yes. Stafford is in the heart of our Western New York service area. We build shed, garage, and hot tub pads across Rochester, Buffalo, Batavia, Le Roy, the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier, and into Northwest Pennsylvania. Request a free quote and we’ll confirm scheduling for your address.

Yes — that’s exactly what it’s built for. With a WNY frost line near 42–48 inches, ground under a shed freezes and thaws all winter. A compacted 3/4″ clean-stone pad drains meltwater away instead of trapping it, and its level, load-spreading base keeps your building from shifting or heaving the way sheds on bare soil or blocks do.

If your shed is built with a wood floor, you should choose a gravel pad; a concrete foundation is ideal for a shed without a prebuilt floor. You can read an in-depth comparison of each type of foundation in our article: “Gravel vs. Concrete: Which Shed Base is Best for You?”

Your gravel shed foundation should be 12″ wider than your shed all the way around. So an 8’x12′ shed should be installed on a 10’x14′ pad. For more information, read our article about why your gravel shed foundation should be 12″ wider than your shed.

Absolutely. We don’t recommend using shed foundation blocks for your shed base as they can cause structural problems in your building as time goes on. Learn more in our article about shed foundation blocks.

No! Gravel pads also make great gazebo foundations, hot tub pads, patio/fire pit areas, and more! A gravel pad with stone dust (instead of 3/4″ stone) is a great option for a horse row barn or run-in shed foundation. Feel free to contact us with questions about whether a gravel pad is right for your needs!
